American radio and TV host Jim Bohannon is a familiar voice to many. He is widely recognized as the host of the nationally syndicated late-night radio discussion show The Jim Bohannon Program on the Westwood One Network. He had formerly anchored the nationally broadcast radio news program America in the Morning until his retirement in December 2015. Bohannon enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduating from Southwest Missouri State in 1966 and served for four years.

After serving in the United States Army, Jim decided to remain in the nation’s capital. While in his 20s, he worked in a variety of radio positions. We visited WTOP, WRC, and WGAY, a station that plays softer music. In 1980, Jim moved back to the Midwest to work at WCFL in Chicago. While working the morning drive at WCFL, he also began working as a correspondent for CNN’s new Chicago bureau.

Though there have been rumors that radio host Jim Bohannon is ill, it appears that these reports are unfounded. Jim seems to be doing OK. The Internet is silent on whether or not Bohannon is ill, leading us to believe that Jim’s supposed illness is a fabrication.

Fans will be curious, though, because Jim is getting on in years. The National Academy of Broadcasting inducted Bohannon into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame in December 2021.

Do We Know if Jim Bohannon Is Ill or Experiencing Health Problems?

As far as I can tell from his online presence, Jim Bohannon appears to be healthy. Jim is active on Twitter but hasn’t stated much about himself yet. However, he hasn’t tweeted in almost a month. When he first started using the facility, he did so multiple times per week.

While attending college, he worked as a news reporter at KWTO and a DJ at KICK on the side. In 1964, Bohannon experienced a turning point that would impact the rest of his career and his ability to adapt on the fly.

He has enjoyed science fiction, the trombone, and tennis since he was a teenager. His dedication to the Jerry Hoover grant at Lebanon High School, where he serves as honorary chairman, is unwavering.

A student who plans to study instrumental music at Missouri State University will be eligible for this award. The former band director of Bohannon High School inspired the name of this building. Bohannon also puts in significant time at Smithsonian Associates.

This Monday, the producers of a show featuring Bohannon introduced the host with a prerecorded greeting. After much deliberation, this occurred. Bohannon expressed gratitude to his hosts but declined to elaborate on his health condition. “Hi. I’m going to assume this describes me.

Jim Bohannon here. You’ve undoubtedly all noticed that I haven’t been on the air as much recently. He explained his extended absence from Talkers by saying, “I have some health difficulties that will keep me away for a lot longer.” For quite some time now, Bohannon has been included among Talkers’ “Heavy 100.” The National Radio Hall of Fame inducted him that year, 2003.

The Talkers organization honored him with their “Lifetime Achievement Award” in 2013. Until then, I’d want to express my appreciation to fill-in hosts Dom Giordano, John Trout, and Rick Valdes. Bohannon remarked, “I’d want to return to the Jim Bohannon Show in the near future. Between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, Bohannon can be heard on a wide variety of radio stations across the country.
