Released back in 2019, Vinland Saga has become one of the most popular anime series on the planet in the modern era. It was produced by Wit Studio, the same studio that did fabulous work with Attack on Titan. However, despite the great success of the show, it didn’t return for the next 2 years.
Vinland Saga season 2 should’ve been out by now as per many fans’ speculation, however, Wit Studio put a little halt in its release. It’s not that we weren’t getting any updates concerning production but there wasn’t a final product for a couple of years. Now the rumors are flying around that MAPPA is taking over the production. Vinland Saga Season 2 – Is MAPPA In?
MAPPA has been trending right due to its involvement in multiple high-quality anime. Jujutsu Kaisen, AoT, and now upcoming Chainsaw Man, MAPPA Studios is cleaning the slate and not allowing any of its competitors to take charge. Amidst all these, we are now hearing about the studio going for Vinland Saga’s season 2.
There’s not any credibility to these rumors but it’s a possibility that this may occur. If you remember, AoT season 4 was also rumored to be produced by MAPPA and later on, we got the confirmation that it was true. So we can’t dismiss this scenario where we may witness MAPPA coming into the picture.
Vinland Saga Season 2 Release Date
We’ve had a couple of updates from the director and Twin Engine regarding the production of the show. Back in July 2021, we got the update that Vinland Saga is in production and will be releasing soon, however, this season is about to end and we are yet to hear about the Vinland Saga 2 release date.
The show needs some sort of news so that fans don’t feel disappointed and assume that Vinland Saga isn’t going to return. The show of such caliber needs another season and considering the top-notch stuff that’s taking place in the manga, we would want to see the characters on the screen once again.
Vinland Saga Season 2 Plot
Season one of Vinland Saga ended on a higher note with King of England getting killed by Askladd and Thorfin getting dragged out. Canute became the new King and the season was concluded. In Vinland Saga 2, we will see the real start of Thorfin.
Thorfin got sold as a slave and is now is working on the farm. He goes through a surreal transformation and all his race and tenacity got over after the death of Askladd. After all, his only purpose of keeping living disappeared and he had nowhere to move.
However, things just don’t end here. Thorfin met a very reliable friend who opened his eyes and let him see the world beyond his depth of imagination. Thorfin got a new purpose and that is to find Vinland and establish a country where no violence resides.
This new form of Thorfin is certainly something that fans will look forward to as so far we’ve only seen a violent version of him. Hopefully, whatever studio is bringing in season 2, they ensure that it matches the quality of season 1 or maybe even surpass it.
