Tiktok expands local content team with Felicity McVay and Simon Bates

Tiktok has included two senior appointments to the community content group, tasking them with forcing articles, culture and imagination for the stage around Australia and New Zealand.

Former Youtube along with Google exec Felicity McVay joins as manager of partnerships and content, although MTV APAC’s Simon Bates takes on the function of manager of articles programming.

McVay was previously head of Youtube content ventures for ANZ and mind of Google Play films and TV ventures for APAC. Most recently, she had been operating with FINCH for a strategy adviser.

In her new job in Tiktok, McVay will foster founder opportunities and construct support for communities throughout key verticals such as LGBTQIA, athletics and fitness, beauty and fashion, and science and education.

Bates was previously vice presidenthead of MTV APAC and’d functioned ViacomCBS for eight decades. Prior to this, he had been the advertising manager of the Sydney Morning Herald.

Working closely together with McVay, Bates can direct the programming, advertising and curation of all Tiktok content, like the Discover webpage and live video along with hashtags, assisting users research and find fresh content.

Lee Hunter, GM of both Tiktok’s ANZ articles and performance branch, said he had been thrilled to bring the 2 functions to Tiktok’s team.

Bates said of the appointment:”I am motivated by invention, articles, ability, entertainment and music. Tiktok is all those things and much more. The stage is linking with enormous quantities of Australians and New Zealanders, and embracing these amazing founders to a worldwide audience. It is the most tumultuous, immersive and creative stage, and I am stoked to be part of it”

McVay stated:”Tiktok has radically changed the short-form movie distance. It has created new memes, interrupted pop culture and also catapulted fresh talent to our daily and that I was determined not to lose out on this journey. I am super excited to use neighborhood founders on the stage to come up with their articles to reach audiences. We’ve got a few really gifted, identifying founders in Australia and also New Zealand along with also my group is focused on making sure they are heard and seen around the world stage.”

Tiktok has really quickly grown its community team since launching an area office three weeks ago. Triple J’s Ollie Wards united as manager of music and the stage announced three new hires into the industrial side of its business two months ago.
