Theories About Joy Boy and His Origins – It is Strawhat
In the latest chapter, we saw the Strawhat of Luffy melting. This Strawhat has shown to be of quite a significance throughout the series as we’ve seen it being worn by Roger, Shanks, and now Luffy. People have often talked about how Strawhat isn’t just a simple hat and it seems like we are about to find out its importance soon.
After the defeat of Luffy, Kaido said that he was dead. But in the last panel, we saw Luffy smiling and his Strawhat was melting. Zunesha notified Momonosuke about the arrival of Joy Boy who hadn’t appeared in 800 years. But with the latest developments, he has returned to Wano.
It seems like Joy Boy’s identity isn’t just limited to a human or any species. If we could look in the previous chapters, there hasn’t been a mention of Joy Boy being a living person. His existence has always been covered in the shadows. With the latest revelation, fans think that Strawhat worn by Roger, Shanks and now Luffy is the culmination of Joy Boy.
You Become Joy Boy Once You Die
This is one of the latest additions to all the crazy theories about Joy Boy. According to some theorists, the only way to become Joy Boy is to die. Momonosuke did mention that Luffy’s voice has disappeared and Kaido also pointed towards his death.
Kaido is someone who doesn’t speak lighter words and when he said Luffy was dead, he meant it. Another interesting thing to notice is that Kaido always wanted to die. Maybe, he knew that death is the only way one can become Joy Boy. Hence he made multiple attempts to kill himself.
Even when he defeated Luffy and knocked him out of Onigashima for the first time, he said you couldn’t be Joy Boy either. He probably thought that Luffy has died but was unable to become Joy Boy. This is certainly a pretty remarkable theory and its possibility of being correct is a lot more.
Luffy’s Fruit is Joy Boy
We don’t know much about devil fruits despite having gone in the series for more than 1000 chapters. Devil fruits may contain the spirit of the people and Luffy’s fruit might contain the spirit of Joy Boy.
Maybe, when Luffy’s fruit awakens, the Joy Boy comes alive and becomes one with its user. The third act of the Wano arc has highlighted the importance of Luffy’s fruit. First by Who’s Who who said that the government was keeping a hold on Luffy’s fruit and it was stolen by Shanks.
Later on, Gorosei also talked about a certain fruit whose real name was hidden from the rest of the world. All of these things getting mentioned at the same time is an indication of something big. Hopefully, we will learn about the identity of Joy Boy in the next chapter and its significance.
