PORTLAND, Ore. – Jaroslaw Niezgoda scored two goals along with the Portland Timbers won their fifth consecutive game with a 3-0 triumph over the San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday night.
Felipe Mora also scored for Portland (9-4-3), that can be connected to the defending champion Seattle Sounders with 30 points beneath the Western Alliance. This was Portland’s third shutout in the past four matches.
“it is a group effort, but we are doing the small things right,” said goalkeeper Steve Clark, who had seven saves. “We are tips, particulars, details, small things”
Following a scoreless first half of moist conditions, Diego Chara functioned a crossover into Niezgoda to get a header a second into the next.
Niezgoda, who’s out of Poland and signed with the Timbers before this season, scored in the 52nd moment for his fifth objective of the year and his initial two-goal match.
Portland’s Eryk Williamson obtained his second right yellow card in the second half and will miss Wednesday’s match against Real Salt Lake.
Vancouver’s Tanner Beason seemed to score at the 71st moment but he was ruled offside after a movie review. Shea Salinas’ effort from the 81st moment went wide to the right.
Mora, who scored two in Portland’s 6-3 victory in the LA Galaxy on Wednesday, scored his seventh goal of the year from the 86th moment. Mora has played in three consecutive matches.
Chara got the help, his team-leading sixth of the year.
“Man, it was a hard-fought match. I believe that our intensity has been there, our tension, our aim to proceed score was . The last time the clubs met, Portland came off with a 6-1 victory in San Jose. This touched off the Timbers’ winning beef, where they have outscored opponents 17-4.
