Police investigating carjacking in Etobicoke

A man or woman is in custody after allegedly stealing and crashing a vehicle in Etobicoke immediately, Toronto police states.

Police reacted to a carjacking in a home on West Deane Park Drive, nearby Rathburn Road and The East Theatre, at about 5 pm on Sunday.

someone who resides in the area said that he saw a defendant attempting to steal his neighbor’s car, authorities said.

The resident subsequently attempted to obstruct his neighbor’s drive with his car to get around the defendant from slipping the car, authorities said.

Subsequently the defendant allegedly threatened the resident using a knife and carjacked his automobile instead.

Authorities said the defendant got into a crash nearby Lake Shore Blvd. along with Kipling Ave. immediately however left the scene continued to push together with the stolen automobile.

Before 12:30 a.m, the defendant had been involved in another accident later sinking to the guardrails on the Gardiner Expressway close to the Humber River, authorities said.

A tow truck driver was allegedly the first to react to the scene and also prevented the defendant from leaving until police came.

Authorities said the defendant was detained and taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The defendant is currently facing charges, authorities said.
