Mariska Hargitay Welcomes Chris Meloni Home into Law & Order

Elliot Stabler is arriving home.

Christopher Meloni is coming to the Law and Order fold using a brand new series comprising Stabler directing the NYPD’s organized crime task force. Meloni abandoned Law & Order: SVU later year 12. SVU, currently in its history-making year 21, has stayed anchored by Mariska Hargitay ever since.

Hargitay chose to Instagram to welcome her former spouse home–and also to wish him a happy birthday.

“Happy Birthday @chris_meloni Congratulations and welcome house Elliot Stabler,” she composed on the image of the both of them laughing on collection of SVU. Hargitay comprised the hashtags, #ItsBeenAWhile #MissedYou #ElliotStabler.

Meloni reacted,”Saddle up, gurl, we ridin agin [sic] And TY for the BD wishes.”

After Meloni abandoned the series, SVU clarified Stabler made a decision to retire–without even telling Hargitay’s Benson–following a shooting at the precinct. Benson and Stabler were spouses on the show from the beginning. Their venture had legions of dedicated fans, a few of whom have refused to see the series with no Stabler on the sequence. Even though Meloni’s series will be different from Law & Order: SVU, it’ll be set and shot in New York, so audiences may expect to see Benson and Stabler together once more.

Meloni engaged in The Paley Center Salutes Law & Order: SVU, a particular dedicated to the series getting the longest-running primetime American play ever.
