Lizzo appeared to be responding to Jillian Michaels after she questioned the body positive movement associated with plus-size celebrities including Lizzo and model Ashley Graham.

‘Cause it isn’t gonna be awesome if she gets diabetes – I’m just being honest. ‘There’s never a moment where I’m like: I’m so glad she’s overweight!’

‘I don’t really give two s***s about Jillian Michaels,’ one user wrote, ‘but we celebrate Lizzo because Lizzo unapologetically celebrates Lizzo and encourages everyone to celebrate themselves, so Jillian can f*** all the way off to whatever washboard ab mountain of misery she sits atop.’

Others pointed to a toxic element in Michaels’ admonishment that leads to eating disorders.

‘If I had been exposed to more Lizzo and less Jillian Michaels when I was younger, maybe I wouldn’t have spent half my life hating my body,’ writer Ashley Fairbanks said.

Statement: Michaels recently took to Twitter to clarify her comments, saying that she has nothing against Lizzo, but is concerned for her well-being

Amid the pushback, Michaels took to Twitter to state her case, saying that she has nothing against Lizzo, but is concerned for her well-being.

‘As I’ve stated repeatedly, we are all beautiful, worthy and equally deserving,’ Jillian wrote. ‘I also feel strongly that we love ourselves enough to acknowledge there are serious health consequences that come with obesity – heart disease, diabetes, cancer to name only a few.

‘I would never wish these for ANYONE and I would hope we prioritize our health because we LOVE ourselves and our bodies.’
