Juancho Hernangómez began his professional basketball career in 2012 when he signed his first professional contract with Estudiantes. He competed in the European U-20 Championship for Spain in 2015. He won the ACB Best Young Player Award after an outstanding 2015–16 season with Estudiantes. Juancho was named to the NBA draft’s foreign early entry candidates list in April 2016.
