LONDON — Dark celebrity John Boyega has resigned from his job as a worldwide ambassador for cologne manufacturer Jo Malone following the company chose to employ a Chinese actor to replace him within an advertisement he made.
The”Star Wars” superstar composed on Twitter Tuesday the brand’s choice to”replace my effort in China with my theories and substituting a neighborhood brand ambassador for me personally, without my approval or prior opinion, was incorrect.”
Jo Malone, a upscale British cologne manufacturer possessed by Estee Lauder, has stated that substituting Boyega with Chinese celebrity Liu Haoran from the advertising campaign has been a misstep. It’s eliminated the advertisement and apologized.
The first advertisement starring Boyega, 28, aired a season and has been known as”The London Gent.” It includes the London-born celebrity walking around the area where he grew up along with riding a horse at a playground, and it’s reference to his fellow legacy in a spectacle featuring West African dress.
“The movie celebrated my own story– showcasing my own hometown, like my buddies and including my loved ones,” Boyega composed. “While most manufacturers understandably use an assortment of local and global ambassadors, dismissively trading outside the culture this manner isn’t something I could condone.”
