Graham functions as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee and will be making every attempt to fulfill the vacant Supreme Court seat together with Trump’s nominee Judge Amy Coney Barrett.
It is a shameless about-face from 2016. Graham affirmed GOP Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s contentious decision four years ago to block confirmation hearings of President Barack Obama’s selection, Judge Merrick Garland, to substitute the late conservative Justice Antonin Scalia before the presidential elections.
