Max first met Joann, his ex-wife. With Kathleen Hill in 1965 after spotting her image on a Sunset Boulevard billboard and knocking on her home on Valentine’s Day to express his desire to meet her. After less than a year of dating, they exchanged vows in a small ceremony that was only attended by their closest loved ones.
They split up in 1971, reportedly because Joanne wanted to concentrate on her acting career and Max wanted to start a family. After divorcing Joanne, Max is known to have had a number of brief relationships, but he hasn’t remarried and doesn’t have kids. He seems to be single right now.
