England counties offer to host the remaining IPL 2021

Cricket news coming in as England may have offered their stadiums to host the remainder of postponed IPL 2021 in September before T2O WC.  

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and IPL Governing Council has postponed IPL 2021 indefinitely. Several players from franchises of Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi reported Covid-19 cases inside their bubble.

The covid-19 cases in India recording all-time highest daily cases, which made few foreign players leave the country.

But after the bio-secure bubble burst, players started testing positives, BCCI decided to stop the Franchise Cricket league until further notice.

BCCI in dilemma, will UAE host the IPL along with ICC T20 World Cup

Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI President has already conducted several meetings regarding rescheduling. The core committee is coordinating with the ICC regarding a safe window to conduct the postponed IPL.

BCCI has once again considering moving the IPL back to UAE like the last edition. United Arab Emirates hosted a safe IPL last year, amid coronavirus cases.

Although Chennai reported few cases, but things were certainly controlled.

ICC has also started monitoring the rising Covid-19 scare in India, and have started planning to shift ICC T20 World Cup to UAE from India.

Amid such talks, English clubs have unofficially shown interest in hosting remaining games of IPL on their pitches; during September, the probable window for IPL 2021.

County Cricket clubs from MCC, Warwickshire, Birmingham, London and Surrey wrote to ECB regarding inviting IPL. Lancashire also expressed their interest in hosting IPL at Emirates Old Trafford.

Although officials from ECB denied any such claims. They’re certainly on good terms with BCCI and have never encountered such an offer from India.

And as India will also play the ICC Test World Championship Final at Lords, England might certainly be a good option for IPL.

Conducting the Indian Premier League in England can also increase their valuation in the English market as well. Even England can share the craze of the biggest Franchise Cricket league in the World.

England will fly to Bangladesh and Pakistan for few White ball matches. ICC T20 World Cup 2021 scheduled to start from 1st November this year in India. ICC won’t make a decision this early, and wait for the covid-19 situation to stabilize.
