Cineplex reopens some theatres after $178-million loss in first quarter

Cineplex Inc. is devoting some of its theaters as the firm struggles with all the fallout of both COVID-19 along with the passing of its takeover bargain.

The Toronto-based film theater business will open some theaters in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland on Friday.

The reopenings come as Cineplex promises to sue U.K.-based series Cineworld PLC for predicting off a 2.8-billion takeover of the business.

On Monday, Cineplex explained the COVID- based 19 outbreak had a”material negative impact” on its own operations and led to an $178.4-million reduction in the quarter.

The organization lost $2. ) 82 per diluted share for the three months ended March 31, as well as a reduction of 12 cents per share or $1. 36 million a year before.

Cineplex earnings dropped to $282.8 million in $364.6 million, whilst presence dropped to 10.7 million in almost 15 million.
