She recently confirmed exciting plans to issue a brand new collection of songs, just seven short months after releasing her self-titled third studio album.
But Charli XCX revealed rather more than the track-listing for her unexpected new record – which will be released to raise money for coronavirus charities – as she took to Instagram on Wednesday evening.
The singer, 27, is currently self-isolating at her Los Angeles home with boyfriend Huck Kwong as California adheres to strict lockdown laws in the battle against coronavirus COVID-19.

And she gave fans the opportunity to get involved in the creative process behind her new album – which has the working title How I’m Feeling Now – by inviting them to select cover art for its first single, Forever.
The Cambridge born star shared three revealing snaps taken by Huck as the couple lounged on her double bed.
Wearing nothing more than skimpy white underwear, Charli’s features are obscured by the flash of her camera as she takes a selfie while sitting in front of an enormous mirror.

Don’t mind us: In a third, the couple reflect the boredom of self-isolation by lounging against one another while idly checking their phones
Sitting cross-legged behind the singer, Huck is seen taking his own picture of his Charli in the first image made available as a potential album cover.
In a second snap her pert bottom is reflected in the same mirror as she throws her upper body across the bed while her boyfriend captures the moment.

Coming soon: Charli teased fans by uploading what appeared to be a partial track-listing for the new album
Returning to Instagram hours later, Charli revealed she would be choosing the second snap as the official cover for the new albums first single.
She told fans: ‘ok so i’ve decided to select image number 2 as the basis for the artwork for “Forever”. Thanks everyone for helping me decide… i am really excited to announce that I will be making 3 official artworks for this song and am honored that @sethbogartofficial @carolineplz and @regards_coupables will each be interpreting this photo in their own way to create 3 unique pieces of “Forever” art.
‘Im such a fangirl of all three artists and to collaborate on artwork like this is a new experience for me. I like the idea that the visual language for this project can be interpreted by however someone feels towards the music.’
New verses: The lyrics to a brand new song were also shared on the picture and video messaging site
Confirming that all proceeds from her new album will go to charity, she added: ‘The music and the emotions that are generated guide the creative output and anything is possible… my idea is to be able to auction all the pieces of art created through this album process once the album is release and donate the money to a charity who are actively helping people through this current global pandemic.’
The singer is channeling her axieties and frustrations about the COVID-19 pandemic into making new music – which she plans to release in just over a month’s time.
Charli announced the news to her fans via a Zoom video conference, before posting a similar explanatory video on her Instagram page on Monday evening.
Feeling inspired: Charli has revealed she’s making a brand new album ‘from scratch’ in lockdown, sharing the news with her fans on Monday night
Charli said: Hi guys, it’s Charli here. Hope you’re doing whatever it is you need to do to stay positive during this time.
‘For me, staying positive goes hand in hand with staying creative, and so that’s why I’ve decided I’m going to use this isolation time to make a brand new album from scratch.’
The pop star admitted the album would have a very ‘DIY’ feel to it because she’s limited to what she has access to in her home during quarantine.
‘The nature of this album is going to be very indicative of the times because I’m only going to be able to use the tools I have at my fingertips to create all music, all artwork, all videos… everything – in that sense, it’ll be very DIY’, she said.
Back in the game: The singer is channeling her anxieties and frustrations about the COVID-19 pandemic into making new music – which she plans to release in just over a month’s time
Charli went on to reveal that she wanted her fans – and fellow artists – to be heavily involved in the process, from reaching out with ideas and collaborations, to sitting in on creative meetings.
She explained: ‘I’ll also be reaching out to people online to collaborate with, and I’m going to keep the entire process super open, so that anybody who wants to watch can.
‘I’ll be posting demos, I’ll be posting acapellas, I’ll be posting text conversations with me and any collaborators, I’ll be filming myself in the studio, I’ll be doing Zoom conferences to ask fans or anyone watching for opinions or ideas, I’m going to set up an email address so that fans or anyone can send me beats or references…
Collaborative effort: Charli went on to reveal that she wanted her fans – and fellow artists – to be heavily involved in the process, from reaching out with ideas and collaborations, to sitting in on creative meetings
‘The whole thing in that sense will be extremely collaborative because anybody who wants to be involved can explore their creativity alongside mine.’
Charli then dropped the bombshell that she was aiming for a release date in five and a half weeks’ time.
‘The album is going to come out May 15, which is soonish. I’ve got a couple of ideas, but I’m basically starting from nothing, so hopefully I need the deadline.
‘The album is called How I’m Feeling now, which is a working title, but I kind of like it! I can’t wait to start making this and I can’t wait to share this whole process with you.’
Making new music: This will be Charli’s fourth studio album and the follow up to her last self-titled release in September 2019
