Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter is an American actress, singer, director, songwriter, humanitarian, and record producer. She is born on September 4, 1981, in Houston, Texas. As a child, she performed in various singing and dancing competitions. She became famous in the late 1990s as the lead singer of Destiny’s Child.
Beyonce’s mother was a hairdresser, and her father was a Xerox sales manager. Her name is a tribute to her mother’s maiden name. She has a younger sister. Beyonce went to St. Mary’s Montessori School in Houston, where she went for dance classes. Her dance teacher discovered her singing talent.

When Beyonce was eight years old, she took part in the talent show circuit in Houston. She was placed in a girl called Girl’s Tyme, and the group rapped and danced. Then the group performed in Star Search, the largest talent show on national TV at the TimeTime, and the opportunity was given by R&B producer Arne Frager. But the group couldn’t win. In 1995, her father started managing the group. The group continued performing.
In 1996, the group changed its name to Destiny’s Child. In 1997, the group released their major-label debut song Killing TimeTime on the soundtrack of Men in Black (film). In November 1997, the group released their debut single “No, No, No,” and it was a significant hit. In February 1998, they released their self-titled-debut-album. The group released The Writing’s on the Wall (Multi-Platinum second album, 1999).
Beyonce recorded a duet with Marc Nelson Boyz II Men for the film The Best Man. The group split, and she went into depression which lasted for a couple of years. During that period, she was mostly in her room all alone and not able to eat. Her mother helped her to overcome depression. Her 1st solo recording was featured on 03 Bonnie & Clyde (Jay-Z song) in 2002. Her 1st solo album was Dangerously in Love which was released on June 24, 2003. The album was a hit. B’Day, her 2nd solo album released on September 4, 2006.
