Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 21 Summary – Deceived

Zeke thought he would club Eren into his plans and both brothers will complete the revenge plot. However, he was clearly under the assumption that Eren would be accomodating. After going through the memories of their father Grisha Yeager, Zeke finally understood the truth.

It was Eren who manipulated their father into killing the king and obtaining the founding Titan. However, he realizes that Eren can’t see much into the future. He gets this chance to ask Ymir Fritz to remove the ability of all Eldians to reproduce so that he can halt Eren’s plans.

Ymir’s Past

The chase begins for Eren as he breaks out of chains and charges towards Ymir to stop her from executing Zeke’s command. He also learns Ymir’s past and understands how she became a Titan. Ymir was a slave of a person who often used her for sport hunting.

One day, she came in contact with an unknown matter and turned into a Titan. Her owner took advantage of her new transformation and used her to her advantage. We learn that the owner used Ymir as a Titan and waged war against Marleyans.

Rumbling

The owner had three daughters with Ymir. In an assassination attempt on her, he survived, however, it marked the end of Ymir. Knowing how crucial her powers were, the owner decided to let her daughters eat her flesh so that her power can be passed on and he could use it.

Ymir’s death marks the end of her flashback. Eren begins to understand Ymir’s pain and tells her that she does not need to be a slave anymore. She’s a person and she has as much freedom as anyone else. We move to the outside world and the walls have come down, marking the start of the rumbling.
