Based on the manga series of the same name, Attack on Titan is an ongoing anime series, currently in its final season. It follows the story of Eren the protagonist who enrolls himself in the military to fight against the giant and life-threatening creatures called Titans.
As the plot of the show progresses, both fans and Eren learn more and more about their history and the truth of their existence. With the truth in front of him, Eren decides to take revenge against those who suppressed them and caused them pain. Let’s discuss Attack on Titan season 4 episode 20 summary.
Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 20 Summary – Grisha’s Memories
We go through the memories of Grisha, the father of both Eren and Zeke where they try to see through the eyes of Grisha. Zeke wants Eren to realize that Grisha only wanted to use him as a tool and nothing else. At least, that’s what he wanted, however, things turn out differently.
With each memory, Zeke comes to realize that Grisha provided Eren the kind of freedom that he hadn’t received in his childhood from his father. He always had the determination to fight for one’s freedom just like his son.
Fall of Maria
As they go through various encounters, Grisha finally suspects the presence of both of his sons and acknowledges it. He says that he hasn’t forgotten about Zeke which even surprises him. In the next phase of memory, we jump to the day when Wall Maria fell.
Grisha is seen interacting with Freida Reiss on the very same day in the underground chapel. Despite Grisha’s attempts to ask for her help, she says that she won’t out any effort into saving Wall Maria. The Eldians will have to suffer through this tragedy and atone for their sins.
The Attack Titan
Grisha says that it was the future memories from the Attack Titan that led him to this place. He needs to obtain the founding Titan and for that, he will have to kill her and effectively put an end to the Royal Bloodline. However, despite his resolve, he is unable to kill children.
Eren, understanding the situation communicates with Grisha and asks him to kill the person in front of him. After some hesitation, the massacre begins and things get bloody. After killing, Grisha turns towards Zeke and apologizes to him for everything that happened to him.
Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 21 – What to Expect
Now that Zeke has realized that his father cared for him despite all his prejudices, he will surely have a change of opinion. We don’t know to what extent but he may try to resolve things differently. As for Eren, it is a completely different story.
We learned that Eren manipulated Zeke to get to the Paths and he has no interest in getting involved in Zeke’s plans. He has his own goal and to achieve that, he will go to any extent and even become an enemy of the world. We may see some interesting development in AoT as we move forward with the story.
