Attack on Titan is an anime series based on manga of the same name. While the manga has already concluded, there are still a few episodes left before the anime wraps up. Those who have read AoT manga are waiting quite eager to learn what approach the studio takes concerning the show’s ending.
If you have followed AoT manga, you may have heard about the “disastrous” ending that it had. We aren’t making any judgments but that was the opinion of most of the fans. It was considered so bad that fans created their version of the ending. Is the Attack on Titan ending going to stick to the manga? Let’s find out.
Attack on Titan Ending – Why It Sucked?
Without going much into details and getting spoilers, to say the least, the ending of the series was much more underwhelming than what fans of it predicted. The final arc of AoT surpassed all the levels of thriller and truly made the series stand out, however, the ending didn’t live up to it.
The series was going around really well with constant twists and turns, betrayals between friends, enemies becoming friends and some remarkable things that kept occurring one by one. However, the last few chapters dropped, it killed off all the hype series has.
As described by many, it was the worst possible ending AoT could have had. Fans had so many expectations from it and they thought that its supreme ending will put the series right beside some of the other great series. However, the ending forever marred its status and it became just another ordinary thriller.
Why Did Isayama Ruin the Ending?
Isayama in an interview had told that he wants to give an ending that will hurt the fans and it truly did. Maybe he was planning all of this from the beginning and an underwhelming ending was always going to happen. However, the impact it had was much more.
Even after the release of the final chapter, Isayama had to add a few more extra pages in the release of the last volume to compensate for what had happened. But that too couldn’t recover what was already done. After all, you can’t overwrite the original.
Will We Get an Alternate Ending?
Fans have been speculating that MAPPA will do the right thing and change the ending of the manga to a different version in its anime. So far, the anime is following the manga page by page but since we are yet to reach the final frontier, it is still not confirmed.
There’s already an alternate ending created by the fans that they’d love to have for the original show. However, it looks like a long shot because that kind of thing doesn’t usually happen. Especially with the shoes of the caliber of Attack on Titan, this kind of thing is unheard of.
All of this culminates in a single conclusion, there won’t be an alternate ending unless Mappa decides to make a bold move. In any case, there are only a few episodes left and we will shortly find out the direction in which the studio is heading.
