82-year-old guy dead after bike wreck on Highway 401 at Mississauga

Crash

An 82-year-old London guy is dead following a bike accident on Highway 401 at Mississauga Sunday evening.

Emergency crews were called into the eastbound lanes of the street in Hurontario Street at approximately 3 litres

Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt explained a motorcyclist was in the left side of their collectors and seemed to be attempting to get the state lanes once he struck on a barrier end treatment which divides the 2 lanes.

As a consequence the victim was ejected from his bike, Schmidt explained.

Once officers came at the scene, the motorcyclist had been discovered with no vital signs and has been hauled to the hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The eastbound lanes of the street will be shut between Mavis Road and Hurontario Street.

Schmidt reported the closing is anticipated to stay in position for at least 2 hours.

The crash reconstruction group is exploring.
